Behind the material

What is Oleatex®?

Oleatex® is an innovative material developed using by-products from the olive industry - including olive pomace, which is the leftover organic matter from olive oil production.

Rather than treating that material as waste, it’s transformed into a new material.

Is it leather?

No. LELE does not use animal leather.

Oleatex® is an alternative material chosen for its aesthetics, performance, and lower animal impact.

Is it animal-free?

Yes. LELE does not use animal leather or animal-derived materials in its bags.

Oleatex® is an innovative material made in part from olive industry by-products, offering an alternative approach to conventional leather.

What does it feel like?

Soft, structured, smooth, and refined.

We chose it because it offers the elevated feel we wanted without compromising the design language of LELE.

Is it durable?

Yes.

Our materials are selected not only for appearance, but for longevity and practical wear.

Beautiful things should survive being lived with.

How should I care for it?

Wipe gently with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth.

Avoid:

  • prolonged moisture
  • direct heat
  • abrasive surfaces
  • overfilling, which may distort shape
Why this material?

We wanted a material that aligned with our values without compromising design.

Oleatex® felt like a natural fit. Made in part from repurposed olive industry by-products, and with up to 90% bio-based content, it represented a different approach to material innovation - one rooted in reuse rather than extraction.

It aligned with how we think about design: animal-free, thoughtfully sourced, and made to last.
