Behind the material

What is Oleatex®?

Oleatex® is a premium plant-based leather alternative developed using by-products from Mediterranean olive oil production.

Olive pits, skins and other residues from the production process are repurposed into the material used across our bags.

Is it animal leather?

No. LELE does not use animal leather or animal-derived materials in its bags. Oleatex® is a premium plant-based leather alternative selected for its quality, durability and distinctive finish.

Is it sustainable?

Oleatex® is designed to significantly reduce environmental impact compared with conventional leather.

Its production has a 6× lower carbon footprint, uses zero water and no solvents, and its current formula contains up to 90% bio-content.

By using an existing agricultural by-product rather than creating a new raw-material demand, it also gives value to waste that would otherwise be discarded or burned.

What does it feel like?

Oleatex® has a soft, smooth feel with a leather-like finish. Depending on the finish, the surface can be smooth or more textured.

Is it durable?

Yes. Oleatex® is developed for durability and everyday use while maintaining its appearance and feel over time.

How should I care for it?

Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth when needed. Avoid harsh cleaning products, prolonged moisture and excessive heat.

Store your bag in its dust bag when not in use.

Why this material?

We chose Oleatex® for its balance of quality, durability and a more considered use of resources.

Made in part from Mediterranean olive industry by-products, it transforms an existing resource into something new.

For LELE, material is part of the design, not an afterthought.
